For attending these master-classes you need:

  • A CLOTH and MEASURES (see below)
  • a long hard ruler
  • a chalk or a pencil to draw lines on your cloth
  • scissors
  • pins
  • a notebook and a pen

For woman's shirt you need:

  • a cloth of a main color. How much (if a cloth's width is 44"):
    for a kid under 12 years old:
    2-times of a shirt's length
    for a teen girl or an adult:
    2-times of a shirt's length plus 25"

    (in case you would not bring your cloth, you could buy a creamy-white muslin, $3 per yard, right at the master-class)
  • a cloth of a red color. 1/4 - 1/2 of a yard (depends on your model)
  • MEASURES:
    length
    (from your neck to desired length, no shorter than waist line)
    sleeve
    (from your shoulder to your wrist, through bent elbow)
    chest
    hips
    neck
    wrist (in fact, fist)

For a sarafan a list of measures an amount of cloth depends on a model

  • For a feryaz-type sarafan you need:
    • a cloth (it could be cotton, wool, silk, or brocade). If a cloth's width is 44", you need 2-times of length.
    • MEASURES:
      length
      (from your neck to your ankle)
      chest
      hips
      neck
      shoulder
      (form your neck to your shoulder-joint)
  • For a "Russian-folk-dancers-type" sarafan you need:
    • a cloth (it could be cotton, wool, silk, or brocade). If a cloth's width is 44", you need
      for a kid under 12 years old:
      length plus 12"
      for a teen girl or an adult:
      2-times of a length plus 12"
    • MEASURES:
      tie an extra rope to a bust line, through your armpits.

      (from your backbone through your shoulder to the extra rope)
      between shoulder straps
  • For a sarafan with a "frog-type" back you need:
    • a cloth (it could be cotton or brocade). If a cloth's width is 44", you need
      for a kid under 12 years old:
      2-times of a length
      for a teen girl or an adult:
      3-times of a length
    • MEASURES:
      tie an extra rope to a bust line, through your armpits.

For a poneva-skirt you need:

  • a base cloth (wool or a thin flannel of dark colors, checkered, example 1, example 2). If a cloth's width is 44" you need 2 lengths of a poneva-skirt.
  • a cloth for a front side (it has to be cotton, of a dark-blue or a crimson colors). If a cloth's width is 44" you need a length of a poneva-skirt.
